The Bursary Program allows selected individuals to obtain partial financial assistance for participation expenses related to the International Federation on Ageing’s 14th Global Conference and affiliate events.
The Bursary Program has been designed in accordance with Canadian law, including the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. In compliance with the Charter, the Bursary Program has no restrictions based on gender, race, ability, health, sexual orientation, political and religious belief, or HIV status. 50 per cent of the Bursary Program is reserved for women.
The deadline for submissions is December 31, 2017.
Individuals who require partial or full financial assistance to attend the 14th Global Conference on Ageing, and who will be over the age of 18 on August 6, 2018, are eligible to apply for consideration.
Priority will be given to IFA members. Due to the high number of applications that the IFA receives consideration will be given to those who reside outside of Canada, the United States, Israel, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and Western Europe.
Applicants must submit an abstract before applying to the Bursary Program, and must register for the conference before submitting an abstract.
The Bursary Program will cover a portion of the applicant’s expenses, but it cannot cover full event expenses.
Covered expenses include the following:
1. Total registration fee to participate in the IFA’s 14th Global Conference on Ageing
2. A return plane ticket in economic class
3. Ground transportation from airport to hotel
4. Lodging from August 7- 10, 2018
5. Breakfast and lunch from August 8-10, 2018
Each individual eligible for this bursary must make a personal contribution according to their resources.
For this reason, the following expenses are not covered by the bursary:
1. Ground transportation in country of origin
2. Expenses associated with obtaining a travel visa
3. All personal expenses incurred during your time at the Conference
The International Federation on Ageing is not responsible for any visas refused by Canadian authorities.
All information submitted will be kept confidential. Should any part of the submitted application form be incomplete or false, the application will be rejected automatically. All decisions of the Bursary Selection Committee are final.
All applicants must have a valid passport and, if necessary, apply for and obtain a Canadian travel visa.
Bursaries are non-transferable and not redeemable in cash. If a recipient cancels their registration or does not attend the Global Conference, their bursary will be deemed null and void.
After the Bursary Program deadline, the Bursary Selection Committee will review all requests. Successful applicants will be contacted and provided with a formal letter of acceptance within six weeks of the submission deadline. After being accepted, recipients must provide proof that they are able to travel to Canada.
