7 August 2018 | 8 am to 10 am | Chelsea Hotel, Room BB33

The International Federation on Ageing (IFA) is pleased to announce a unique event called the Emerging Leaders Forum, to be held on the 7 August 2018 from 8 am to 10 am, at the Chelsea Hotel, Toronto, as a prelude to the IFA 14th Global Conference on Ageing.

Led by Dr John Beard, Director, WHO Department of Ageing and Lifecourse and a foremost leader in the field of ageing, the goal of the forum is to bring together aspiring leaders to share personal and collective experiences in a way that builds knowledge and fosters increased comprehension of what it takes to be a leader.

For the purposes of this forum, a leader is defined as an individual who has shown passion for and leadership in their field and / or community, but who is not currently occupying a high-ranking leadership position.

The forum will focus on the varied qualities that make a leader, exploring the distinct capabilities of attendees, understanding the dynamic processes and relationships associated with leadership and considering how individuals can use their diverse capacities in a range of settings.

A balance of attendees will be sought from low and high resource settings with a range of experiences.  Because numbers are very limited, some persons may unfortunately not be successful but this should not be interpreted as not being worthy of growing into a leadership position.

Attendees at the forum are also encouraged to take the opportunity to join one of the Master Classes with the aim of making the link from the forum discussion to a topic of their interest in the field of ageing.

Eligibility Criteria
Delegates who wish to be considered for the forum must complete the expression of interest form comprising contact details and one page Word or PDF document that includes a brief biography (400 words), and answers to the following questions:

  1. What does being an influencer mean to you?
  2. How do you plan to use the knowledge gained during the Forum and IFA Global Conference?

Applications will be considered on a case by case basis until such a point that room capacity has been reached. Upon acceptance, participants will be required to pay the $50 USD fee by 11 May 2018.*

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Ms Tarah McMaster at tmcmaster@ifa-fiv.org.

*NB: Should payment not be received by this time the IFA has the right to offer this position to those who are waitlisted.
