Ms. Kate Wedgewood
Ms. Kate Wedgewood joined HelpAge International in July 2015 as Director of Policy Advocacy and Communications. She is presently leading the department’s work to deliever on HelpAge’s vision and the four stategic goals of the HelpAge International Strategy 2020.
Prior to joining HelpAge, Ms. Wedgewood worked for the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development (DFID), initially as Head of Communications for the Africa Division and Head of Cabinet for the Director for West and Southern Africa, and then as Head of Programmes and Deputy Head of DFID Uganda.
In 2012, Ms. Wedgewood was seconded from DFID to the Nike Foundation/DFID initiative Girl Hub, initially leading Girl Hub Rwanda and moving on to serve as the Africa Regional Adviser for Girl Hub.
Before joining DFID, Ms. Wedgewood spent 13 years as Country Director for Save the Children in China and North Korea.
