Mr. Francis Njuakom Nchii
Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Community Development Volunteers for Technical Assistance (CDVTA)
Mr. Francis Njuakom Nchii is the founder and Chief Executive of CDVTA, Cameroon’s leading organization promoting homecare for the elderly at the grassroots level. Mr. Njuakom has 21 years of experience working in the community development sector, 18 of which have been spent in the aged care sector.
Mr. Njuakom is the coordinator of Nouvelle Planete projects in Cameroon, an Ambassador for CommonAge in Cameroon; a member of the Cameroon Pilote Committee on ageing issues at the Ministry of Social Affairs; a member of the National Committee for Maternal, Child and Adolescent health with the Ministry of Public Health; and a member of the African Society for Ageing Research and Development.
Mr. Njuakom holds a first class honours degree in social work, a higher diploma in community development, and certificates in social gerontology, advocacy and leadership. He was awarded the Sheila McKechnie Foundation International Campaigner Award by Prime Minister Gordon Brown in 2008. In May 2016, the President of Cameroon honoured Mr. Njuakom with the prestigious title and rank of Knight of the Cameroon National Order of Valour for his 21 years of stewardship in community development, care, and support for older people in Cameroon. He has been conferred with many titles and honours by traditional rulers throughout Cameroon for championing community development initiatives and ageing issues in many communities and tribes.
